SUMMER CLASSES ARE HERE!
With the growing number of vaccinations and reduced number of COVID-19 cases in Florida, we are excited to announce that we will be offering virtual AND in-person classes this session!
This 12-week session will take place in Largo/Clearwater from June 14th through September 3rd, with the Summer Showcase performances at the Central Park Performing Arts Center on September 11th &12th.
In-person classes will be limited to 8 students to ensure social distancing. There will be NO Advanced Training Program this session.
Virtual classes will take place on Zoom and will pre-record their showcase to be presented at the Summer Showcase which will be live-streamed for our out-of-town audiences!
Please note that spaces are VERY limited. Register ASAP to secure your spot in class.
Mondays 6-7:30 pm | Location: Hope Presbyterian
This introductory class covers all the basics- improv games, acting exercises, singing and voice work, movement/dance, playwriting, and more, all while creating a performance for the showcase. (REQUIRED FOR ALL CLASSES - except other Beginner classes)
Beginner Hand Drumming
Mondays 6:30-7:30 pm OR Saturdays 11am- 12pm | Location: Largo Feed Store (at CPPAC)
In this fun hand drumming and percussion class, students will be exploring the world of rhythm. Students will get the chance to jam out and explore different cultures and the percussion instruments from those regions.
VIRTUAL Theatre 101
Mondays 6-7:30 pm | Location: Virtual on Zoom
This introductory class covers all the basics- improv games, acting exercises, singing and voice work, movement/dance, playwriting, and more, all while creating a performance for the showcase on the last week of class.

In this class, students will create and perform in a small musical, learning how to sing and dance while working as a team. (Prerequisite: Theatre 101)

In this class, students will learn how to warm up their bodies, expand their range of motion, and learn complex dance movements, incorporating them with musical theatre songs. (Prerequisite: Theatre 101)
Intro to Shakespeare
Tuesdays 6:30-8 pm | Location: Hope Presbyterian
In this class, students will learn how to read and perform Shakespeare’s work. Each student will be assigned a character from a classic play by Shakespeare that they will workshop throughout the class. (Prerequisite: Theatre 101)
Thursdays 6-7:30 pm | Location: Indian Rocks Baptist Church
In this class, students will work as a team to write, create, direct, and star in their own original show! (Prerequisite: Theatre 101)
Thursdays 7:30 - 9 pm | Location: Indian Rocks Baptist Church
Improvisation, or improv, is a form of live theatre where everything is made up on the spot based on audience suggestions. This class will teach students to think on their feet while laughing their heads off! (Prerequisite: Theatre 101)
Thursdays 6-7:30 pm | Location: Virtual on Zoom
In this class, students will create and perform in a small musical, learning how to sing and dance while working as a team to create a finished "movie"-style product to be streamed on showcase day! (Prerequisite: Theatre 101)

Saturdays 11 am - 1 pm | Location: Virtual on Zoom
Do you love telling stories and creating interesting characters? Do you want to learn how to get those stories down on paper so they can be brought to life? Then this class is for you! Spend 12 weeks getting one-on-one coaching and learning all the basics of playwriting as you write your own, original, 10-minute play! Already a writer? Then work with teachers to challenge and push yourself to the next level. After the Summer session, see your plays brought to life by actors at a special Playwriting Showcase this Fall. For students who are not local - you can still sign up for this class and participate via ZOOM! (Prerequisite: Theatre 101)
Theatre eXceptional's education programs include three sessions of classes in the Pinellas and Hillsborough area throughout the year.
Our in-person* classes are open to adults ages 17+ and are centered on giving professional theatre education to adults with varying disabilities and prepare them for professional theatre opportunities outside of Theatre eXceptional.
Classes for teens ages 13-17 are coming soon with Theatre neXt - learn more here! - while in virtual classes, students 13+ can sign up for Theatre 101.
Classes include Intro to Theatre, Musical Theatre, Improv, Shakespeare, and various advanced classes.
